Winter Wonderland - Oberalppass

Spent the day in the swiss alps.... usually during the summer months but this time it was a sunny sunday afternoon.

Oberalppass

Wake up early on a cloudy sunday monring when you know that above the clouds the sun will be shining.

In Switzerland it is often the case that when it is foggy in the towns its like a different world above the clouds with vasts amount of sunshine

After deciding what car to use we made our way up to a location called Andermatt. This is where many people go skiing during the winter months and some of you may know this place because of the luxury hotel called "The Chedi".

We will not be staying here on our roadtrip unfortunately... :-(

But we have something just as nice!

Andermatt - Oberalppass

From Andermatt it is only a short drive up to Oberalppass HOWEVER when we left in the morning google maps said that the road was closed due to snow.... as we appoached the road heading up the Oberalppass we saw no signs of it being closed and other cars were driving up so we decided to follow them.

We soon realised that the roads were all open and you can not imagine the happiness on my face when i saw that the roads were all clear of snow but the surrounding areas were all white meaning it was time to get the drone out for some photos and videos and that's how the image of this post was created.

After taking some photos and videos it was time for some lunch and we headed into Andermatt town to indulge in some typical swiss food. - Rösti!
